Rivendell by vivenaishide Rivendell by vivenaishide
After the popularity of [link] , I decided to try and create the first feeling I had of Rivendell as the camera panned out and I could not believe the beauty there on the screen.

Saddly...I do not think I did it justice, but none the less I hope you will enjoy this piece as much as White Shores.

Photoshop / Painter 8 / Wacom Tablet.
About 9 hours of work in this one. ( my wrist hurts! )

looks very Van Gogh-ish, especially in the upper left corner... :-)

Very beautiful. I love the impressionist style as it makes your painting very unique. I have favorited this gorgeous piece.

Seems very rough, more like a work in progress which's waiting for you to finish it.

Wow, I like the impressionistic style, and how you captured the light and how the light dances on Rivendell's unearthly elven beauty. Can I use it as a wallpaper on my computer? :+fav:

I've always wanted to do a Rivendell picture, but I never got a good picture to work with! :P
Hopefully in the future I might finish it, but nevertheless your painting is amazing!

I think you captured the scene beautifully; I really love the streaks of light streaming down into the ravine. Everything looks so peaceful.
greatunknown1 Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2004
it captures the scene completely. I would have removed the original line drawing edge that seem to still be there but that's probably just your style so i'm not complaining.

that is quite lovely, you 'painted' this very well;there are quite a few artists who can't pull off that vague brushed look, but you did a wonderful job - the lighting is delectable . . .

I particularly like your figure there in the front, though his neck terrifies me (he could lift ME with that thing)

reminds me of cheese somehow . . .

mmm . .. cheese

this is great.. i really like it. The lighting is done very well and another thing id like to add is that its very, well, um how should i put it.. here it goes:

the whole picture seems very very static, but at the same time it seems like there is so much life in it [probably due to the vibrant colors] that its almost like its immensly dynamic.

okay i sound weird but thats just my thought on it.

good job

Although I'm not a big fan of the style, I can see that you have a great deal of talent. The way you've used colours alone is incredible - it lends such a soft, warm feel to it - and its very representative of Rivendell. I also like the way the light plays across the image; it doesn't interfere or intrude: it's completely at ease with and complementary towards the rest of the elements of this piece. It equally amazes me that this piece has so much detail when at first it appears to be completely lacking - and here I speak specifically of the intricacies of the architecture - it just seems that you've done so much with so little.

Very incredible, I must say. My applause
Lakaia Featured By Owner Feb 22, 2004
The effect you used looks like a painting. So much so that I have to ask how you did it... It looks so wonderful.
vivenaishide Featured By Owner Feb 22, 2004
Thats because it is a painting =)

First is draw out the line art, go in and lay out the basic color sceme I want with the air brush tool ( wacom tablet so I use a pen now as were I was using a mouse "shiver" ). Then after I have the colors where I want them, I select the oil paints brush and go back over the entire painting again to give it the rich "non-digital" feeling.

This painting was particularlly detailed and took me a entire day to complete.

Basicly since I got the wacom tablet and painter 8 my art has been able to reach a whole new level in the digital format.

Thank you for your question and your comment!
